Professional cricketer turned aspiring doctor to speak at Positive Footprints virtual event

Former professional cricketer turned aspiring doctor Vishal Tripathi will be speaking to school children across the country on 10 December 2020 to open up the world of work with Positive Footprints and partners.

These talks provide pupils with a chance to get a first-hand account of what it takes to land their dream job from professionals in a variety of roles. Previous examples range from hairdressers to people in the Royal Air Force.

At least 10 schools will be attending the talk at 11am with partners including Gentoo Group, Regenda Homes, Sovini, The Careers and Enterprise Company, Yorkshire Housing and NewGround Together.

Vishal said, “It is vital we encourage children to think about their future and let them know they can have more than one career, just like me. Whether they want to hold a bat in their hand or a stethoscope, anything is possible!”

Children as young as seven make career decisions based on people they know. They also begin to form stereotypical opinions around certain careers. For some children, this can have a huge impact on their future aspirations, and they rule out certain careers before leaving primary school. We’re here to change that.

We are always looking for more people to share their career journeys, so please get in touch with us and you could help inspire the next generation of talent >

Lesley Burrows, Managing Director of Positive Footprints, said “It is fantastic to have someone like Vishal talking to some of the schools we work with. He is living proof you can chase a sporting dream and an academic dream. He may inspire a child to become the next England cricket captain or a pupil to become a doctor who save lives!”

If your school would like to watch the live talk please email: planningteam@positivefootprints.co.uk
